Company Overview

In December of 2009, our founder Larry Hansen was reading a magazine article about a company in Jerusalem that mined salt and mud from the Dead Sea. He was intrigued with what they had done and the amount of product they sold around the world, with 85% being sold in America. He wondered who was doing this with our own Dead Sea of America, The Great Salt Lake. He looked into this and did research on the Great Salt Lake, what he found amazed him. Not only did we have an incredible source of trace minerals and elements in the GSL, but there really was no company that was set up to offer the product to the consumer. After locating existing companies that were on the Lake with the mineral rights from the State of Utah, the idea behind Ojaván was born.

The Lake has a great history with it. The Native Americans were the ones who discovered it, lived by it and used it to help with their health and daily lives. They would carry the wounded from battles, the aged, and the sick to the Lake to bathe in its curative waters. They had great reverence towards the Lake and believed it to be holy. We wanted to maintain this thought and the reverence towards the Lake.
The Company name Ojaván, is simply, Navajo spelled backwards, all of our products have Native American names, and hold true to what the product can do for us. This gives us an opportunity to not only bring a great natural product to the world, but in small ways educate them, help them get a little closer to the history of those that were on this land long before us. Maybe, just maybe, it will help people have a little more respect for our earth, and what it can do for our health and lives.

We've had a number of people ask us how we came up with the idea of putting a Crystal and Essential oils into the Aromatherapy Bath Salts. It was easy. As Ojaván thought about what the salts would do for the body, in feeding the skin, we kept thinking. We knew women and men love scents, but we didn't want to just put in some chemical that had a nice smell. That's when the idea of pure unadulterated essential oils came into play. After research, buying samples of oils and testing them. We learned what they brought to our product and how they could help. Our minds then went to what could make our product a little more unique and set us apart from other bath salt companies. While contemplating this, our founder remembered how people are attracted to stones, and particularly Crystals. With additional research we decided to include a unique Crystal that enhanced the properties of the essential oils in the salts. Thus giving the customer a complete Ojaván experience of Holistic and Metaphysical proportions. So far, people have loved the difference.

Packaging of the essential oils for sale just made sense. We have added a few additional oils to round out the basic oils that can be used in the home. We package the oils in 8ml, and 18ml, giving the consumer a little bigger supply than the traditional 5ml and 15ml, which others offer.

We believe that by using our products you can achieve "Beautiful Skin Naturally".
